When you set up a new Mac, a setup assistant opens and asks for setup details, including the name and password of your OS X user account. If you enter those details without completing the remaining setup steps, the setup assistant creates your OS X user account, but then opens again the next time you start up your Mac. If you enter the same account details again, it warns you that the account already exists. To resolve the issue:

Mac Mail Account Already Exists
I just upgraded to El Capitan and the Mail program has dropped one of my emails. The email for Yahoo is there but the one for Cox is not. It directs me to iCloud but I can't find anything wrong. The settings for Cox look right and I can send from Cox and get it.. I just can't receive anything.
If you already added an email account, you can still add more. In Mail, choose Mail Add Account, select an account type, then enter your account information. Make sure the Mail checkbox is selected for the account. If you’re using an account on your Mac with other apps, such as Contacts or Messages, you can also use that account with Mail.

Mac Mail App This Account Already Exists For The Medical Records
I tried renaming the Mail account in the Library per another post but I still get the same response that the mail account already exists and it directs me to iCloud. I look at account info and it says its offline so I go to preferences and its not. Frustrated with this!
